About RentSplit

A calculator for roommate rent conversations

Roommates often agree that rent should not always be split equally, but the reason can be hard to explain. A larger bedroom, private bathroom, better light, extra storage, or shared-room setup can all change how a group wants to divide monthly rent.

RentSplit keeps those assumptions visible. The goal is to produce a number and a clear explanation that people can review together before making their own agreement.

What RentSplit does not do

RentSplit does not decide what is legally required, morally required, or already promised in a lease or roommate agreement. It does not store your rent details, create an account, collect payments, or manage roommate negotiations.

Treat every result as a discussion aid based on the assumptions you entered. If your group has already signed a lease or payment agreement, review that agreement separately.
